As you can see, the cover is brighter and there's better contrast. Since it's a story with hope, I like the look of this better.
The cover above is like the third or fourth I've fiddled with (first ones in WORD, then this one in CANVA) for a dystopian future redemption story I wrote in 2005. It had promise, but was kinda lame in its very short format. A "salvation in an alley" tale. I decided to up the dystopian aspect, make the character more complex. So, sure, now it's all complicated and making me nuts. But it's on the agenda for 2015. Once I"m done with the various short stories in queue, I want to focus only on projects that will be series--be it series shorts, series novelettes, series novellas, series devotionals, series meditations on Scripture, series of poetry "chapbooks." As an indie, I think that's the best way to plan projects. Make it a series, not standalone stories or novellas.
I love browsing DeviantArt and have for eight years. I met some cool artists there and even commissioned art from a couple. It's lovely to find jewels over there. I notice some of those I had admired are using their skills to earn a living creating art for covers or designing covers. Very cool. I'm "Mirtika" over at DeviantArt. I'm not an artist, but I just started to upload my covers there when I use DeviantArt works as backgrounds.
It's the Christmas season. Please remember its core meaning and have lots of joy as you get busy and plan for events and meals. God bless. Be well.
