Mirtika, aka as Mir (pronounced kinda sorta like "mere"), is an indie author new to the world of self-publishing, though not at all new to living in South Florida, USA. The header gives an approximation of how to pronounced her name. But don't sweat it. She's fine with being called Mir, as in mere wonders, mere make believe, mere imagination.
The red hibiscus in the photo is from her garden and is one of the other nicknames she has been called. Well, she used to be obsessed by the color red. Lately, it's more aqua, turquoise, teal, and assorted blues. But red still rocks and she has dozens of red lippies and nail polishes to prove it. Plus a red wallet, red reading glasses, red shoes, and red purses.
She doesn't much like browns and greys. :-/ Silver is great, though. :D
Mirtika writes speculative fiction (science fiction and fantasy) and has edited at SF webzines in the past. She's won contests and awards for her fiction and poetry. In 2014, she self-published two short stories at Amazon for Kindle, and she is currently working on more short stories, a novella series of retold fairy tales, and a Christian short devotional series entitled WEEK WISE: God's Word for Rough Days.
Her Christian faith flows into her writing. It's faith-kissed fiction. It's faith-embracing non-fiction. And she hopes it's always entertaining and encouraging for her readers.
Her aim is not to be dogmatic or divisive or demonizing in any way, but to explore light and truth and the human experience that carries with it both good and evil. And she is always mindful of the healing powers of mercy, kindness, patience, forgiveness, and love...and of genuine faith in something--Someone--wiser, stronger, and eternal. Truth sets free. And stories add wonder to our lives.
Making....believe. It's a way of life and a way of writing.
